My own habit for being creative

In order to be open to creativity, one must have the capacity for contructive use of solitude. One must overcome the fear of being alone.

I find that I need time alone where I’m not looking at my phone, and just let my mind wander. The shower and walks are great for this. The longer I mull over something, the more I can riff on it.

If your wandering mind isn’t thinking about what you want to be thinking about, that means you’ve got too many distractions in your life. You need to have what you’re working on to be the top idea in your mind. Ruthlessly cut the distractions out of your life, whether they’re TV, email, people, family, or fun, and try again.

Remember, not everything that’s important is urgent. The world will still be spinning when you emerge from your cocoon.
